I've got a couple of ideas for the project. but some I think are too big. (for me). One idea I've got is quite interesting, but I almost want to save it until I have the skills to do it. I dont want to attempt to release my good idea only for it be realised in an ametuer half assed attempt. nay. maybe I could do it. maybe its open to discussion.
another idea that exposed itself whilst I was scribbling some ideas and watching the news last tuesday after class. news reported that three aussie bizniz men had establised a private company called Australian Nuclear Energy. We thought it might be funny to get a domain name if available and put up some kind of protest site. We investigated and it looked like australiannuclearenergy.com.au was available. after paying for it we got a response that we needed to prove a connection to our ABN and the domain name. Our ABN is for a film production company, so we argued that we wanted to make a film with the same name. After that, the domain registry explained that:
"In regards to the domain name australiannuclearenergy.com.au there is some bad news. It has already been registered by someone else. After investigating this issue I don't believe that it will become available for some time. Due to this problem we are more that happy to register another domain name in replacement of australiannuclearenergy.com.au or refund you the amount of A$39.95.".
So, there goes that idea. unless we register some kind of similar name and continue.... i remember someone in class was interested in using multimedia for activism. maybe he'd be interested.... dunno what his stand is on nuclear energy though.....
Interestingly, in news today, the mining industry managed to get a protest website shut down due to copyright infringment. http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/industry-closes-anticoal-website/2007/03/04/1172943275688.html
